David Clapham FRAS
David started observing the night sky over Lincolnshire at the age of eight, through a pair of binoculars borrowed from his maternal grandfather. After passing Navigation & Astronomy as one of his ten school subjects, he went on to further study of astronomy at Manchester & Plymouth.
Various relocations for academic and career purposes have led him to enjoy membership of the British Astronomical Association, Plymouth Astronomical Society and Croydon Astronomical Society, before becoming involved with Peter Drew's work at the Astronomy Centre in April 2000.
Public open evenings spent introducing visitors to the subject at the Astronomy Centre and further personal study with the Open University have allowed David to extend the breadth of his expertise and he was very proud to be elected a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society in 2008.
In addition to this website and his outreach activities at the Astronomy Centre, David also partners journalist and keen astronomy newbie Shelley Booth on BBC Radio Lancashire's “Shelley's Stars”.

Bob Groombridge
Bob started with a 50mm refractor in the mid 1960s and has slowly managed to acquire better telescopes over the years. Having previously spent a decade studying the planets, Bob's main interest is currently deep sky observations and astrophotography. On most clear nights he will lose track of time whilst trying to capture an elusive nebula from his back garden.
